Students were given a guided tour of the world-class facilities which boast 12 training pitches named after legendary football players and a full sized indoor pitch. The centre also has state-of-the-art hydrotherapy suites, biomechanics and training gyms, video analysis amenities, educational and coaching suites along with medical and sport science facilities. From this, students were able to see first hand the vast array of career opportunities available in the Football industry. During the tour, the students witnessed the England Women’s Under 17s training and able to appreciate the quality, layout and thought behind the impressive centre. Sitting in the very changing room which has been graced by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard was certainly an experience students will not forget.
The Moreton Football Academy is due to be launched in September 2014 under the direction of Mr Jeff Ashton a UEFA ‘A’ qualified coach. Students will combine professional football training with academic studies and will have the privilege of taking part in a host of impressive opportunities such as playing a game at St George’s and no doubt bumping into one of the England elite. There is also an upcoming trip to Worcester University on Wednesday 5th February where students will participate in a full day of activities such as a futsal game against first year Worcester University students and video analysis and sports science workshops.
