Post 16 students that study A Level Art textiles visited the Stitch and hobby craft show in Manchester on Thursday 11th September. The visit was to engage and inspire post 16 students, exposing them to new and interesting ways of manipulating and embellishing fabrics.
Students were involved in a number of hands on activities which allowed them to experiment with and learn about different ways to decorate and manipulate fabric. Students also attended a tutorial session demonstrating techniques involved in presenting successful sketchbook work. All of the skills learnt by students on the trip will be useful when students start to produce their own A Level art textiles work.
Students that attended the trip will be putting their new skills into practice when they get back into the classroom and will continue to further their learning by researching into the techniques learnt whilst on the trip in more depth back at school. We look forward to seeing examples of work inspired by what was learnt on the trip!
