Dear Parent / Carer
We are writing to inform you about an initiative that we have been leading in our local area in conjunction with all of our city wide schools and Wolverhampton Police Force.
This project has developed a working relationship between schools and the police has helped to break down barriers and reduce the incidences of crime. The two way communication is an ideal mechanism in preventing small incidents from escalating into more serious crimes.
Our project involves school leaders meeting with the members of the local police force every half term to discuss local issues, areas of concern and areas where the police and schools can work together to tackle and ultimately reduce crime. The police will share with school leaders information of any dealings with students or issues that may affect students in their own, respective school. The aim of this information sharing is that schools are more aware and can talk to and potentially help their own students and families to deal with and overcome any problems with which they are experiencing.
We wish to make it clear that we are taking this opportunity to improve the working relationships between all the services that help to educate and keep our young people safe. We see this as very much a positive initiative to make the area in which we live and work a safer and more harmonious community.
