Dear Parent / Carer
Over the last few years, Governors at Moreton have been in dialogue with the Department for Education about a proposed conversion to academy status. This would take Moreton out of local authority control and into a management structure with another school as part of a trust arrangement.
I have pleasure in informing you that on Thursday 3rd November, the Department for Education approved our academy application to join the Amethyst Academy Trust as a fast track sponsored academy. This trust is led by the Members, Directors and Principal of Aldersley High School, one of the highest performing secondary schools in Wolverhampton in the two most recent examination series.
I will write to you more in the coming weeks about the implications of this arrangement and what it means for us at Moreton. Our number one priority will be to improve the outcomes for all our young people and to do this as quickly, as efficiently and as sustainably as possible. Our aim is for Moreton to become outstanding. The close working relationship, with strong leadership, support and guidance from our colleagues at Aldersley will help to bring this to reality.
The process of conversion can take up to five months but we are aiming to try and complete this by the 1st March 2017. Can I thank you for your support and assure you that I will write to you early next week with further updates and an opportunity for you to come into school to meet with me, the Principal from Aldersley and other senior leaders about how we see this conversion as an opportunity to further improve what we do and improve all the life chances of our young people.
