As part of our continued work with Headstart Wolverhampton,
our Year 8 and 9 students have been taking part in an Employability programme.
As part of this programme our students have been looking at
what skills are, how they are transferable, which roles and sectors require
which skills and what employers are looking for during recruitment.
We have been lucky enough to have Employers visit with our students from the following areas, where experiences and suggestions were shared.
- Engineering / Construction
- Professional Football / Sports
- Hairdressing and Beauty
- West Midlands Police
The highlight of the programme came on Wednesday 6th
February, when our Year 9 students were lucky enough to be joined by Mr Ashley
Bertie – Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands. Mr Bertie spoke with the students about his
role, the skills, training and characteristics required for such a role, and
discussed the students idea’s on the development of the local community, and a
The highlight of the session was the completion of a Pod Cast Question and Answer session, where our students were invited to question Mr Bertie on matters close to their hearts. This Pod Cast will be available soon via Headstsart FM.
